Farewell and Thank You

Friends, we’re writing you with important news.

At the end of this month, April 2025, Mount Vigil will disband.

In the future, Anthony and I will collaborate on other platforms. We’ll also continue to write and podcast on our respective blogs.

If you’d like to follow us going forward, you can subscribe to Anthony’s Substack, Sun Tongue and my Substack, The Paradise King.

Here’s how we came to this conclusion.

Last month, Anthony and I met to pray on his back porch. We weren’t sure what to do with the fact that our work had gained traction outside Mount Vigil, even though the mission of Mount Vigil still speaks to our hearts. We prayed, and we felt like the Holy Spirit asked us a question.

Is Mount Vigil the organization you would build for the work you see Me doing now?

We had to admit the answer was no.

We started Mount Vigil five years ago. Our vision was to resource the Church through the end of an age. We podcasted, traveled to encourage local church leaders, hosted events, and tried to work out for ourselves what faithful discipleship looks like in turbulent times.

Over the past five years, Jesus has answered that question. Would you like to know what we learned?

You prepare to be faithful by being faithful.

That’s it.

You get the basics right. You take your discipleship and your union with Christ seriously.

For the last two years, Anthony and I have had less time to work on the nonprofit. At the same time, our work has spread on other platforms.

If you were to ask one of the great saints how to discern what God is calling you into, they would ask you to describe what God has already done. What has He blessed? What relationships is He filling? Where did you feel your heart come alive to His presence? What’s working? As we’ve answered those questions, we’ve seen God move us increasingly beyond the borders of Mount Vigil.

Anthony and I never wanted to make God’s work fit a particular organization; the wind blows where it pleases, after all. When He stops, we stop. Now, in order to give ourselves more fully to the work God seems to be blessing, we’re pruning our former commitments.

And that includes Mount Vigil.

We want to thank you all for following us so faithfully in this work. We hope that God has blessed you through the content here, and we pray that He would strengthen you moving forward.

We also hope that you’ll choose to follow us on Substack so that we can stay in touch moving forward.

If you have any questions, please reach out. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 3.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Peace,
Blaine and Anthony
